White Christmas Youth and Adult Auditions!
Firefly Theatrical will hold both youth and adult auditions for our first community show, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas!
Currently Casting:
Teen Dance Ensemble: Students ages 14-19
Youth Ensemble: Students ages 6-13
Adult Ensemble: to play assorted speaking roles as well as being a strong singing and/or dancing ensemble.
General Henry Waverly – (late 50’s to mid 60’s) – Retired Army general with a curmudgeonly military exterior, adjusting to retired life in post WWII America. Precise and orderly, struggling to run the Inn in Vermont. A man of integrity. Underneath a warm compassionate man in need of family and love. With the exception of one line, can be non-singing role.
Martha Watson – (late 40’s to mid-60’s) – Once a Broadway star, now the General’s housekeeper. The true force behind running the Inn. Very dry wit and frank with a wisecracking sense of humor. Big hearted, but unsentimental. Irrepressible meddler, believing she acts on everyone’s best behalf. Strong singer and mover, Broadway belter.
Susan Waverly – (young girl 9 to 12 to play 9 years old) – The General’s granddaughter. Lovable and outgoing. A bit precocious, but wise beyond her years. Gets bitten by the stage bug and is great at it. Excellent belt voice, must move very well.
Ralph Sheldrake – (mid 30’s to early 40’s) – Jokester Army buddy of Bob and Phil’s, now a major television executive. Fast talking, loud, brash New York professional with a good head on his shoulders.
Rita and Rhoda – (mid 20’s to early 30’s) – Bob and Phil’s two star chorus showgirls. Brash, sexy and fun. Perhaps not the brightest.
Ezekiel Foster – (mid 40’s to late 50’s) – Practical, the ultimate laid back New Englander. A man of few words. Caretaker at the Inn. Takes life at a very very leisurely pace.
*The roles of Betty, Judy, Bob and Phil have been cast.
Auditions:
Sunday, October 13th from 4-7p.
What to prepare: Sign up for a time slot to sing and please prepare a 1 minute cut in the style of the show. There will be a place to list your link to your track when signing up.
Dance call: We will also have an adult and student dance call at 7p. All auditionees wanting to be considered for the dance ensemble (both adult and teen) will need to attend the dance call. Students under the age of 14 do not need to attend a dance call. (If you are unable to make it that day, please still fill out the form and then submit your resume and a video of you singing or email them to greg@fireflytheatrical.com by 7p on October 13th.)
Callbacks:
Sunday, October 20th 2-5p. These will only be for adult roles and the role of Susan Waverly. You will receive an email after auditions if you are needed.
Rehearsals:
Adults and Teen Ensemble:
11/4-11/23, 12/2-12/7 Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays 7-10p and Saturdays 4-7p
*Off for Thanksgiving break 11/24-12/1
(There will be staggered call times and you will not be called every day, but please list all conflicts with these times)
Youth Ensemble:
11/4-11/23, 12/2-12/7 Mondays and Tuesdays 6-8p
*Off for Thanksgiving break 11/24-12/1
Tech Week:
12/9-12/12: 6-10p
Performances:
12/13-12/15: Friday and Saturday at 7p, Saturday and Sunday at 2p
*This is a non-union contract and will not be paid.
For Youth Ensemble and Teen Dance Ensemble, there will be a fee of $200 to participate in the show.
